1. What Data We Collect

LaunchPoint Navigator collects the following information to provide personalized career exploration and financial literacy education:

  • First name and last name
  • Email address
  • Grade level
  • Career assessment results (neighborhood and sub-neighborhood)
  • Financial literacy module progress and quiz scores
  • Saved careers and education plan selections
  • Basic usage data (pages visited, features used)

We do NOT collect: Social Security numbers, home addresses, phone numbers, financial account information, photos, precise location data, or any biometric data.

2. How Data Is Stored

All data is stored securely on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure located in the United States. Data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption and in transit using TLS 1.3. Access to student data is restricted to authorized LaunchPoint Navigator personnel and authorized school administrators.

3. How Data Is Used

Student data is used exclusively for educational purposes:

  • Personalizing career exploration and financial literacy experiences
  • Tracking student progress across platform features
  • Providing aggregate (non-identifiable) reports to schools and districts
  • Improving the platform’s educational content and features

We never sell, rent, or share student data for commercial purposes. We do not serve advertisements. We do not use student data for marketing.

4. FERPA Compliance

LaunchPoint Navigator operates as a “school official” under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) with a legitimate educational interest in the data it processes. Under FERPA, parents and eligible students (18+) have the right to:

  • Inspect and review their education records
  • Request correction of records they believe are inaccurate
  • Consent to disclosure of personally identifiable information
  • Request deletion of their data at any time

5. COPPA Compliance

For students under 13 years of age, LaunchPoint Navigator requires that the school or parent/guardian provides consent before the student creates an account. Schools may provide consent on behalf of parents when the platform is used for educational purposes, consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

For students 13 and older, school authorization is sufficient for account creation.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Student data is retained for the duration of the school’s or district’s contract with LaunchPoint Navigator. Upon contract termination or at the request of the student/parent/school, all personally identifiable data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Students or parents may request data deletion at any time by contacting info@launchpointnavigator.com.

7. Third-Party Services

LaunchPoint Navigator uses the following third-party services:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — cloud infrastructure and data storage
  • AWS Cognito — secure authentication (password management)
  • Google Fonts — typography (no user data transmitted)

No student data is shared with any other third parties.
